About Me

Junya FUKUTA, Ph.D.

Associate Professor at Faculty of Science and Engineering, Chuo University

Adjunct Lecturer at Graduate School of Letter and Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Chuo University

I was born in Miyagi prefecture, Japan, and raised in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. In 2016, I completed my doctoral dissertation at Nagoya University. I have taught at Nagoya University of Foreign Studies, Nagoya Zoukei University (part-time), the Language and Communication Research Centre at the University of Shizuoka, and Shizuoka University, Faculty of Education (full-time). I dedicated this time  to the exploration of the findings that have pedagogical implications for language teaching.
After the experiences noted above, I moved to Tokyo and joined Chuo University as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science and Engineering in 2019. Since 2020, I have also taught applied linguistics, language acquisition, and psycholinguistics at Housei University and Rikkyo University, and I have been an adjunct lecturer at the Graduate School of Letters, Chuo University. Around this time, I started to aspire to conduct research on language acquisition and processing with contributions to cognitive science.
My main publications have been published in international journals such as Applied Linguistics, Second Language Research, Applied Psycholinguistics, IRAL – International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching, System, Language Teaching Research, and Language Awareness.
I am currently a self-professed linguist and cognitive scientist   as for my current research interests, please visit the research interest page.
